Day four was an evening race. It was a hilly 10 mile run that ended with a big climb. It was very hot out, even at 6pm, so most people were taking it more conservatively than they normally would. The support on the course was amazing. People were handing out sponges, baggies of ice, water bottles and others were chasing you down with spray bottles.
I placed first for the female Ultimates, even though my time was 2 minutes slower than it was last year. I started out faster than I needed to (I’m 22 minutes ahead of the 2nd place female), so I slowed down my pace around 4km.
My sister did fantastic too and beat her time from last year. She rocked the hills and looked like she was really having fun doing it.
I thought that the food for tonight was just going to be sandwiches since it was later in the day, but I was wrong! They had so much food that I couldn’t fit it all on my plate and had to go back later. I had a veggie burger with carrot hummus, guacamole, corn on the cob, a curried salad, baby potato salad, a bean salad, fresh veggies with another type of hummus, and lots of other plant-based goodies.
