I live in a small town and vegan specialty items are hard to find. Usually, we stalk up when we go to the city, but that’s 2 hours away.
I recently was introduced to well.ca when a friend posted a discount code online. It was perfect, because I was looking for vegan marshmallows and couldn’t find anything at our local stores. It purchased all items that I had never tried before, so I was really excited to get my package.
Some of the benefits of shopping well.ca:
- free shipping over $29
- quick shipping
- offer discounts, such as this one ($10 off of $40 – promo code-runningwithveggies10)
- allows you to filter your results, such as “vegan” or “gluten-free”
- I got a free sample
Cons:
- the only con I could find is that some items are more than they would cost in store. However, if you can’t get them locally, it is worth it, especially with free shipping.

Purchased Items
Surf Sweets All Natural Sour Berry Bears – $5.46
Although they are a bit pricy, they are vegan, made with organic fruit juice, 90% organic, and contain no corn syrup or GMOs. I normally do not eat candy, but I couldn’t stop eating these and I didn’t feel at all bad about it. It would probably be 3-4 regular servings. They are slightly sour, but not too sour where you are puckering your face.
Mary’s Organic Crackers Graham Cookie Mini’s – $6.62 (discontinued on their site)
These were so cute! I thought my kids would love the cool shapes and size for their lunches; however, for my young kids, the flavour was a bit too strong. The flavour was more like a distinct gingersnap flavour than a graham flavour that you traditionally find for s’mores. They did love them in the s’more clusters that I made.
I loved the taste of them and the fact that they are gluten-free, vegan, and organic. Don’t be deceived by the box size. The box is about 1/3 full. The good news though is that much air in the packaging ensures that the cute shapes are broken.
Bob’s Red Mill Coconut Flakes – $6.99
If you have been searching for the right coconut to make coconut bacon, this is for you! I haven’t found the right coconut since our last trip to the United States. I only bought 2 bags, but I’m going to restock. They are also pretty to decorate cakes and other baked goods. I don’t have anything bad to say about these.
Dandies Vegan Air-puffed Marshmallows Mini and Regular – Classic Vanilla Flavour – $7.29
My kids love marshmallows but I never buy them for me…until now. These are made with natural ingredients. Are gelatin free. They also contain no gluten, corn syrup, and are free from most of the common allergens. They melt well and my kids didn’t even notice that these marshmallows were any different than non-vegan ones.
Dandies Vegan Air-puffed Marshmallows Mini – Pumpkin Marshmallows – $5.28
These aren’t like those brightly coloured marshmallows that I ate as a kid, and can’t stand the thought of. The flavour is subtle and more sophisticated. They were cute for Halloween baking. The only drawback is that the flavour gets somewhat lost if you pair it with stronger flavoured items.
